The 1965 version of Charlie is my Darling was produced byStonesâ manager/producer Andrew Loog Oldham who enlisteddirector Peter Whitehead to travel with the group and film themas â(I Canât Get No) Satisfactionâ rocketed the band to thepinnacle of the U.S. and U.K. charts.
The GRAMMY winning team of producer Robin Klein anddirector Mick Gochanaur developed the new 65 minute versionafter researching and locating additional film footage shot byWhitehead and uncovering a source of first generation audiorecordings of the bandâs concert performances. Painstakingwork was done on restoring the footage to come up with thenew film that offers a coherent narrative and gives the viewerunprecedented access to the Rolling Stonesâ original line-up âMick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Brian Jones and BillWyman âon stage live and captured, literally, in trains, planesand automobiles as well as backstage and in smoky hotelrooms where they candidly discuss their future. Never-beforeseenfootage of the bandâs early songwriting process is alsoincluded as motel rooms host impromptu songwriting sessionsand familiar classics are heard in their infancy as riff and lyricare united.
