Their forthcoming albumĀ Silverado was recorded at Mark Knopflerās legendary British Grove Studios, produced and performed on by Dire Straitsā Guy Fletcher, with special guests including slide-guitar icon Sonny Landreth and soul legend PP Arnold.
This is a rare chance to hear the songs up close in an intimate setting before the record is released.
ā Americana UK (on The Company of Strangers)
āAn outstanding debut from a brilliant singer-songwriter. Ellisās voice is warm and emotive, and his songs are full of beautiful imagery and storytelling.ā
ā Folk Radio UK
āHe has a real gift for writing observational songs with a cinematic quality... like a cross between early Neil Young and a British Jason Isbell.ā
ā Americana Highways (on Gold on the Horizon)
āOur Man in the Field brings together warmth, melancholy, and a deep well of storytelling. Think Ray Lamontagne meets The Delines ā but with a distinctly British soul.ā
ā Maverick Magazine
āAlex Ellisās vocals are both delicate and compelling. The instrumentation is subtle but sophisticated, and every song feels lived-in and honest.ā
ā Atwood Magazine
āA masterclass in subtle songwriting... balancing fragility and strength with poetic grace.ā
ā Bill Bentley, Neil Youngās publicist writing in Americana HighwaysĀ
"The level of sensitivity laced into the music and the lyrics of Alex Ellis are nothing short of wondrous. Really. Modern music is the history of songs that carry the ability to stop listeners in their tracks and offer a new path of understanding. Albums like this come along every decade or so and really do offer stepping stones to sanity. Even better, songs like āCome Back to Me,ā āLāEtranger,ā āGlad to See Youā and āLong Forgottenā present themselves as private anthems for those searching for something to believe in. Ellisā voice carries a sense of timelessness to it, and it melds with his lyrics like a man finding a vision in the nick of time. And like so much of heart-healing songs like these, its power is offered immediately."
